Never too late to begin

You can only have a sense of achievement or accomplishment when you do what you set your sights on
Simple mantra
1) Set realistic goals
2) Do things, procastination is the biggest enemy of achievement
3) Limit analysis to a reasonable level, overanalyzing impedes progress and achievement
4) Risk taking can compliment achievement, ships are not meant to be harbored , set them on sail

Following above mantras will give you the confidence to get ahead in life and face the competitions. Remember, it is never too late to begin.

Why MBA

Of late, I have been thinking about MBA and its advantages...why do i need a MBA...what value does it bring...well this post is not about answering this question, but asking questions that can help you decide "Why MBA" 1) What value does it bring to my profile? Will I start talking numbers, understand strategy , provide solutions, lead team....just because I have MBA? 2) Is my current job hitting a glass ceiling? Is my growth hindered because I don't have MBA? Am I not ready for the business side of my job? Is my technical acumen outshining my business acumen? 3) Am I being relegated to technical only tasks and being passed for more leadership and business roles 4) Am I hearing regular comments like "you need to understand the business side of it" in my Year end appraisal? 5) Drawing business plans, making budgets, project management , conducting ROI and unlocking the value behind numbers- do these tasks raise goose-bumps for you? and many more question... If you start answering the above questions with earnestness and analyze ( not over-analyze) , you will get answer to " why MBA" PS: I am considering my MBA in 2012..all the best more to come...

Lockbox Posting in SAP

For quite sometime ,the SAP community has been wanting to simplify lockbox processing in SAP. The lockbox configuration steps are easily available on the internet. However following links are really helpful

But one question that the standard lockbox configuration does not answer is how to have one lockbox file post both on account for some customers and create residual item for other customers in the same lockbox batch file.


I was always wondering that there might be an option to do this albeit not a standard one. Following is my solution

1. All customers for whom the payment has to be posted on account will be stored in a custom table


2. The payment advice is imported in the SAP system by the lockbox program


3. The payment advice is stored in the table AVIK before posting . Table AVIK has an indicator to specify post on account as shown below which is unchecked by default.

4. A USER EXIT (for program RFEBL030- you can go to CMOD and search) will supply the customer number at this point and it will check it against the entries in custom table to see if the customer payment has to go on account.

5. The indicator is checked for all such customers and the payment is posted on account for such payment advices.

6.The remaining payment advices will post as usual
